Edible Garden

Edible Garden

The edible garden’s popularity has increased significantly over the past two decades. Not just fruit trees or a small patch of earth designated for herbs and vegetables, but beautiful and well-organized outdoor spaces defined with decorative pebble and raised planter boxes, metal trellises and/or arches spanning between planter boxes.

Edible Garden Elements: Several companies offer well-designed and functional planter boxes made of wood, corten steel, stainless steel, resin, and fiberglass. The most popular design enjoyed by my clients is an arrangement of four or more raised boxes with metal arches spanning the boxes. This Edible Garden design concept makes this garden area an inviting, attractive addition to any yard.

Edible Garden Elements: Fruit trees should be grown together, space permitting, in an orchard look, with mulch and a dedicated drip irrigation system. I advise all my clients to visit Louie’s Nursery & Garden Center in Riverside (all citrus quarantined). The staff will help you decide which fruit trees are best suited to your Southern California home.

As for herbs and vegetables varieties, this is up to each homeowner to decide. The one factor I emphasize is that the vegetable garden area must receive adequate sunshine.

I have also had the pleasure of designing chicken coop in approved areas.
